Topographic Rug
The goal of this project was to create any soft goods project of our choosing. I decided to explore rug and textiles design, and how I could connect them to nature. I wanted to push myself to make something that was typically 2-Dimensional and flat into something that felt organic and lively.
INSPIRATION
The Inspiration for this rug came from different national parks, and topographic maps. The Varying pile heights imitate the natural landscape and the varying hills and valleys of the land. The color options were chosen based on the color profiles of the various parks chosen including Grand Canyon, Badlands, and White Sands National Parks.

THE SPEC
The overall dimensions of this rug are 5' in width at its widest spot, and 4' on it's opposite side. The length of the rug is 7'.
COLORWAY
GRAND CANYON
This colorway was inspired by the bold colors of the sedimentary rocks that fill the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

COLORWAY
BADLANDS
This colorway was inspired by the Western United States, and the green and muted landscape of the National Park, Badlands, in South Dakota.
COLORWAY
WHITE SANDS
This colorway was created for users who desired a less “loud” option while still maintaining the natural elements. The monochrome look is inspired by the National Park, White Sands, in New Mexico.
